Fuel tank capacity and runtime

Fuel tank capacity and runtime

The Dyna-Glo Delux heater runs on standard 1-K kerosene and holds 1.9 gallons in its removable fuel tank. At maximum output, you’ll get around 10 hours of continuous heat; dial it down to the mid-range setting and runtime extends to 12 hours or more.

We built the tank with a spill-proof cap and integrated fuel gauge so you always know how much kerosene remains. The tank lifts out in seconds for easy refilling at your fuel source — no awkward pouring or funnel games required. When you’re moving between job sites or storing the heater for summer, the removable tank makes transport safer and cleaner.

Heating coverage and BTU output

Heating coverage and BTU output

At 23,800 BTU, the Delux model is our most powerful radiant kerosene heater for residential and light commercial use. It comfortably heats garages, workshops, warehouses, and open living spaces up to 1,000 square feet.

How radiant heat works

Unlike forced-air heaters that blow warm air and create drafts, radiant kerosene heaters emit infrared warmth in all directions. You feel the heat immediately — just like standing in sunlight — because the infrared energy warms objects and people directly rather than heating the air first. The Delux heater’s 360-degree burner means no cold zones; everyone around the unit stays equally warm.

Safety shutoffs and certifications

Safety shutoffs and certifications

We equipped the Dyna-Glo Delux heater with three layers of automatic protection. The tip-over switch cuts fuel flow instantly if the heater gets knocked over. The oxygen-depletion sensor monitors air quality and shuts the burner down if O2 levels drop below safe thresholds. And the overheat guard kills the flame if internal temperatures exceed design limits.

The heater is CSA-certified for indoor use in well-ventilated spaces and meets ANSI Z21.94 standards for unvented kerosene appliances. Our cool-touch cabinet stays safe to brush against even after hours of operation, and the wire guard around the burner keeps hands and materials away from the flame. Always operate in spaces with at least one cracked window or door for fresh air exchange.

Heated my garage through the polar vortex
We lost power for three days during the January freeze and this heater kept our attached garage at 55 degrees the whole time. I ran it on one tank of kerosene per day and never worried about safety with the auto-shutoff features. Absolute lifesaver.

Perfect for my woodworking shop
I needed something that wouldn’t blow sawdust everywhere like a forced-air heater. The radiant heat from the Delux model warms me and my workbench without creating air currents. Lights instantly every morning even when it’s 20 degrees in the shop.

Much quieter than I expected
There’s no fan noise at all — just a soft hum from the burner. I can run this in my detached office and still take phone calls without any background roar. The fuel gauge is handy so I’m not constantly checking the tank level.

Heats fast but needs ventilation
This thing pumps out serious BTUs. My 800-square-foot garage goes from freezing to comfortable in about 15 minutes. Just remember to crack a window — I learned that the hard way when the oxygen sensor kicked in. Once I gave it airflow it’s been flawless.

Best emergency backup heat I’ve owned
We keep this in the basement for power outages and it’s paid for itself twice over. The removable tank is genius for filling outside, and the cool-touch cabinet means I’m not paranoid about the kids getting too close. Burns clean with zero kerosene smell if you use fresh fuel.

Solid construction, reliable ignition
I’ve used cheaper kerosene heaters that rusted out or had ignition problems within a season. The Dyna-Glo Delux feels twice as sturdy and the electronic ignition has started on the first try for two winters straight. Well worth the investment.

Common questions about the Dyna-Glo Delux heater

Yes, the Delux heater is CSA-certified for indoor use in well-ventilated spaces. Always operate it in a room with at least one cracked window or door to provide fresh air exchange.

The built-in oxygen-depletion sensor monitors air quality and automatically shuts off the burner if oxygen levels drop below safe limits. Never use the heater in completely sealed rooms, bathrooms, or bedrooms without adequate ventilation.

The 1.9-gallon fuel tank provides approximately 10 to 12 hours of runtime depending on your heat setting. At maximum 23,800 BTU output you’ll get closer to 10 hours; dial the flame down to medium and runtime extends past 12 hours.

Always use clean 1-K kerosene for best performance and odor-free operation. Red-dyed kerosene or old fuel can cause smoking and reduce efficiency.

The Delux heater is rated for spaces up to 1,000 square feet with standard 8-foot ceilings. In well-insulated garages or workshops you may heat slightly larger areas; in drafty barns or open warehouses the effective range will be smaller.

Radiant heat warms objects and people directly, so you’ll feel comfortable within 15 feet of the unit even if the entire space hasn’t reached your target temperature yet.

The Dyna-Glo Delux heater runs entirely without electric power except for the electronic ignition, which uses two D-cell batteries. Once the burner is lit, the heater operates independently — making it ideal for power outages and off-grid locations.

Batteries typically last an entire heating season with normal use. Keep a spare set on hand if you rely on the heater during extended outages.

The fuel tank lifts straight out of the heater cabinet after you release the locking tab. Carry the tank to your kerosene source, unscrew the spill-proof cap, and fill to the marked line — never overfill.

Replace the cap tightly, wipe any drips from the tank exterior, and slide the tank back into the heater until it clicks into place. The integrated fuel gauge shows your kerosene level at a glance.

The heater includes three automatic shutoff systems: a tip-over switch that cuts fuel flow if the unit gets knocked over, an oxygen-depletion sensor that monitors air quality, and an overheat guard that shuts down the burner if internal temperatures exceed safe limits.

The cool-touch cabinet design and wire burner guard protect against accidental contact burns. All safety systems are tested to ANSI Z21.94 standards for unvented kerosene appliances.

Yes, the front-panel dial lets you adjust flame height and BTU output from minimum to the full 23,800 BTU maximum. Turn the dial clockwise to increase heat when you first start the heater in a cold space, then dial it back to maintain a steady temperature and conserve fuel.

The flame adjusts smoothly without flickering or producing smoke when you use fresh 1-K kerosene and keep the wick properly trimmed.
