Dyna-Glo Blower Fan Kit – Upgrade Your Heater Performance
Our blower fan kit transforms passive radiant heating into active circulation, pushing warmth further into your room and reducing hot spots near the heater. Designed to fit select Dyna-Glo wall and vent-free models, this kit includes a whisper-quiet blower motor, mounting bracket, wiring harness, and installation hardware.
You install the fan behind the heater grille in under an hour using basic hand tools—no HVAC contractor needed. Once running, the fan pulls cool air from floor level and distributes heated air across the room, evening out temperatures and letting you dial back the thermostat while maintaining comfort. We engineered the motor for quiet operation, so you'll hear the gentle hum of airflow rather than mechanical noise interrupting your evening.
- Universal bracket fits Dyna-Glo IR18, IR30, and BF20 series heaters
- Two-speed motor: low (40 CFM) for overnight use, high (60 CFM) for rapid warmth
- Pre-wired harness with plug-and-play connector—no splicing required
- Thermal cutoff switch prevents overheating if airflow is blocked
- Quiet brushless motor rated at 28 dB on low speed
Compatible Heater Models

This blower kit pairs with our IR18NMDG-1, IR30NMDG-1, IR30NMDG-2, and BF20NMDG vent-free infrared heaters, plus IR18PMDG-1 and IR30PMDG-1 liquid-propane models. Before ordering, check the model plate on the back of your heater—if it’s an IR18, IR30, or BF20 series manufactured after 2018, the mounting holes are already drilled and the wiring connector is pre-installed under the front panel.
Older models built before mid-2018 lack the plug-and-play connector, though you can still install the fan using the universal bracket and splicing the wires to the heater’s existing power supply. We include wiring diagrams in the manual for both connection methods. If you’re unsure which generation your heater is, email us the serial number and we’ll confirm compatibility within 24 hours.
Installation Steps

Turn off the heater and let it cool for 30 minutes, then disconnect power at your breaker or unplug the unit. Remove the front grille by lifting the spring clips at the top edge—most models use four clips, two on each side. Locate the two pre-drilled mounting holes on the inside back panel, about 5 inches from the center.
Slide the fan bracket onto those holes and secure with the included #8 machine screws—hand-tighten, then another quarter turn with a screwdriver. Connect the white wiring harness to the mating plug inside the heater cavity—you’ll hear a click when it seats. Route the fan’s power cord along the left side channel, away from the burner assembly, and tuck any excess behind the bracket. Replace the grille, restore power, and turn the heater on—the fan will auto-start when the burner reaches operating temperature.
Performance & Noise Levels

On low speed the motor moves 40 cubic feet per minute at 28 decibels—quieter than a refrigerator compressor—making it ideal for bedrooms and offices where you want warmth without distraction. High speed delivers 60 CFM and 34 dB, which is about the volume of a quiet conversation, suitable for living rooms and workshops where rapid heat distribution matters more than near-silence.
The fan starts automatically when the heater’s internal thermostat senses the burner has reached 140°F, typically 60 to 90 seconds after ignition. It continues running until the burner cycles off and the heat exchanger cools below 120°F, ensuring you extract every BTU from each burn cycle. In a 250-square-foot room, the blower cuts temperature stratification by roughly 8°F top-to-bottom compared to radiant-only operation, based on our test chamber measurements.

Blower Fan Kit Questions
This kit is engineered specifically for Dyna-Glo IR18, IR30, and BF20 series heaters manufactured after 2018. The mounting holes, wiring connector, and airflow geometry are proprietary to our models. Other brands use different bracket patterns and voltage requirements, so we can't guarantee fit or safe operation on non-Dyna-Glo units.
If you have an older Dyna-Glo model from before 2018, the fan will still work but you'll need to splice the wires manually since those heaters lack the plug-and-play harness. Check your model plate or contact our support team with your serial number for confirmation.
The motor draws 18 watts on high speed and 12 watts on low speed. Running six hours per day on high costs roughly $0.50 per month at the U.S. average residential electricity rate of 16 cents per kilowatt-hour. The savings from reduced thermostat settings typically offset the fan's operating cost within the first month of use.
The fan is wired to auto-start when the burner reaches operating temperature and auto-stop when it cools below 120°F. You can't override it to run independently because the motor draws power from the heater's transformer, which only energizes during active heating cycles.
This design prevents the fan from blowing cold air when the heater isn't running and ensures the motor isn't left on accidentally after you shut down the unit.
No. This is an official Dyna-Glo accessory and installing it does not void your heater's factory warranty. We designed the mounting points and wiring harness to integrate cleanly with our heaters without modification. Just follow the installation manual and retain your purchase receipt in case you need warranty service down the line.
Low speed moves 40 cubic feet per minute at 28 decibels—ideal for bedrooms, offices, and overnight heating where quiet operation matters. High speed delivers 60 CFM at 34 dB, which is better for living rooms, workshops, and rapid warmup when you first turn the heater on.
Both speeds start automatically based on heat exchanger temperature. The speed switch is a manual toggle on the fan housing, so you set it once based on your room's needs rather than adjusting it frequently.
If the fan stops running during a heating cycle but the burner is still on, the thermal cutoff may have activated due to blocked airflow or excessive dust buildup. Turn off the heater, let it cool for 20 minutes, then remove the front grille and locate the red reset button on the right side of the motor casing.
Press the button firmly—you'll hear a click if it was tripped. Replace the grille, turn the heater back on, and verify the fan restarts. If it trips repeatedly, vacuum the intake vents and check for obstructions around the blower wheel.
The blower fan works on both natural gas and liquid propane versions of compatible Dyna-Glo heaters. The fan runs on 120V AC electricity from your wall outlet, not from the gas supply, so fuel type doesn't affect installation or performance. Just confirm your heater model number starts with IR18, IR30, or BF20 and was built after 2018.
